WIP Wednesday: 1st Sock Progress

Bonnie June 20, 2012 7

I’m really happy with my sock progress. Despite the socks large size, it looks the construction is going as it should. I was close to finishing the heel flap, and decided to attend the knitting circle at Nangellini last night in case I got stuck turning the heel and starting the gusset. I found the heel instructions on Silver’s Sock Class very clear and easy to follow, and got through that part very easily. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Nicole from No Two Snowflakes about the book of knitting patterns she’s working on. She was also a big help with my dropped stitches! She has some lovely patterns and hand dyed yarn in her etsy store.

I found a YouTube video on starting the gusset, and watched that twice before moving on. Once I saw it done, I didn’t have any problems starting the gusset. I’m hoping to finish this sock in the next couple days, and start on my first real pair.

WOOT!  I remember feeling so accomplished when I turned the first heel.  Keep up the good work!

Wow!  I visited Nangellini when I was on vacation in May, and I bought some No Two Snowflakes yarn.  How cool!

Ok, as for your socks, they look great so far.

Cute sock! Sounds like you have a great support network at your LYS.
